KTM

IMI Philippines was chosen and recommended by the Semiconductor & Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation Inc. (SEIPI) for a study visit and facility tour organized for the delegates to the 4th High Officials Meeting (HOM) on Southeast Asia Technical and Vocational Education and Training (SEA-TVET), held on September 4 and 5, 2018 in Manila.

Gilles Bernard, president and chief operating officer and Mario Bernardo Santos, head of Philippine operations, welcomed the delegates.  “IMI works with the most advanced and high class electronics. We may have the machines, robots, equipment but it’s our people that make the difference- not only the engineers but the operators, line leaders, to the production managers, etc… all these people make the difference. Hence, continuous learning-- education and training are very important to us,” said Bernard during his welcome remarks.

The organizer of the regional forum, Technical Educations and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) requested SEIPI to facilitate and organize the study visit to a SEIPI member company with advanced technologies in the workplace as well as strong links with training institutions.

The yearly gathering is participated in by the Southeast Asian Ministries of Education, related ministries on TVET, and other relevant development agencies and partner countries beyond Southeast Asia. This year, the 4th HOM was attended by approximately 180 participants (local and international).

The study tour allows IMI, one of the top EMS providers, to showcase and share the company’s best practices to other Asian countries, as well as for the participants to gain practical knowledge that will support curriculum enhancement and development towards producing relevant and job-ready TVET graduates.
