IMI, a Global Multinational Company w/ Filipino roots Turns 40

40th anniv

August 11, 2020, Laguna, Philippines.  - Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc (IMI), a leading global technology and manufacturing solutions expert with Filipino roots turns 40 this month.

“Having reached four decades is not an easy feat considering that among those companies who started at the same time with us in 1980 are no longer here,” said Arthur R. Tan, president and CEO.

With humble beginnings, IMI was established in 1980 as an integrated circuit assembler with a workforce of 100 and with only three factories in the Philippines. Its continued growth and development is deeply rooted in its values system that it began mapping out its expansion in terms of expertise, specialization and global presence. Today, the company is around 17,000 strong with 22 manufacturing sites across ten countries providing engineering, manufacturing, and support and fulfillment capabilities to diverse industries globally.

“We are grateful to have shown that a Filipino company can be a global multinational company. Many times, the Philippines is seen as dependent on multi-national companies coming into the country to develop our industry. What we have proven is that we can actually take part in the global arena and play a significant role in developing our industry,” said Tan.

Headquartered in the Philippines and majority owned by the Ayala Corporation, the country’s oldest and largest conglomerate, IMI operates in multiple manufacturing sites in the Philippines, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Serbia, United Kingdom, and the US. It provides technology and EMS to original electronics makers catering to both regional and international markets.

“Amidst this global outbreak and uncertainties, electronics continue to be more ubiquitous in our lives; we are now more dependent on our gadgets and devices. We shall continue to be an integral part of the supply chain of electronic products, and now more than ever for health and medical devices. We shall remain relevant, all set for the next 40 years and beyond,” said Tan.

IMI recently received certification from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its UCL Ventura Flow Generator, a non-invasive ventilatory support in the management of COVID-19 patients.
