IMI’s Chengdu Facility, ISO/TS 16949 Certified

June 21, 2016, Laguna, Philippines — Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc. (IMI), one of the leading worldwide providers of electronics manufacturing services (EMS), announced today that IMI (Chengdu) Ltd, its subsidiary in Chengdu, China, received ISO/TS 16949 (2009 version) certification from SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance) on July 19, 2016.

The ISO/TS 16949 is an ISO (International Standards Organization) technical specification aimed at the development of a quality management system that supports continual improvement, focusing on defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the automotive industry supply chain.

IMI president and chief operating officer Gilles Bernard says, “This certification expands our capacity and capability to serve the automotive segment. Aside from our plant in Jiaxing, IMI China can now engage in automotive programs in Chengdu.”

He adds, “This gives us the opportunity to create more value for the automotive original parts makers or tier one suppliers.”

IMI earlier announced that it ranks 6th among the top automotive EMS providers in the world based on 2015 automotive EMS revenues per electronics market research firm New Venture Research. Its plants in Jiaxing (China), Botevgrad (Bulgaria), and Guadalajara (Mexico) are on expansion mode to accommodate increased business from tier one automotive parts suppliers.
