PSi’s LED Engine Demo at PCIM 2013

May 8, 2013, Laguna, Philippines – PSi Technologies, Inc. (PSi), a power semiconductor assembly and tests services (SATS) and a subsidiary of electronics manufacturing services provider Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc., is demonstrating its low-cost, high-performance LED (light-emitting diode) engine at the Power Conversion Intelligent Motion or PCIM Europe 2013 on May 14 to 16 at Nuremberg Messe in Nuremberg, Germany.

PCIM Europe 2013 is Europe’s leading meeting-point for specialists in power electronics and its applications in intelligent motion, renewable energy, energy management, and other fields.

PSi will be exhibiting at Hall 9 Stand 548 its power semiconductor assembly and test capabilities including the LED engine developed by its design team. A press briefing will be held in the booth on May 15 at 10:00 a.m.

PSi senior vice president for innovation technology Thomas Moersheim said, “We designed our LED engine specifically for high brightness applications for the automotive and industrial sectors.”

The LED engine uses copper as its sole base material for conducting heat and electrical energy.

Moersheim explained, “The advantage of using copper compared to ceramic is the former’s higher thermal conductivity and its ability to withstand higher thermo mechanical stresses.”

“Further, we have used a proprietary lead frame design and standard semiconductor assembly processes. All these double the current LED lifespan without increasing the cost,” he added.

PSi had its US patent application published for its “Scalable Heat Dissipating Microelectronic Integration Platform (SHDMIP) For Lighting Solutions and Method of Manufacturing Thereof”
